5 highest paying states for RNs

Medical Group Management Association found Washington, D.C., was the highest paying area for registered nurses, while New Jersey was the lowest.

The "MGMA Datadive Management and Staff Compensation Data Report" reported on compensation benchmarks for positions ranging from C-suite to frontline. The report includes data on more than 157,000 management and staff positions from more than 2,940 organizations.

The pay gap between the highest and lowest states was $55,751.

Here are the five highest-paying states for registered nurses:

  1. Washington, D.C.

  2. Maryland

  3. Washington

  4. New York

  5. Arizona
