Virginia Koss went to the hospital in February with a broken hip. When staff asked Ms. Koss to remove the rings before surgery, she protested “vigorously.” After Ms. Koss was moved to rehabilitation following surgery, her family noticed the rings were gone. Upon calling the hospital, Ephraim McDowell staff admitted to removing the rings before Ms. Koss underwent surgery.

It is unknown if the rings were accidentally discarded, lost or stolen, according to The Advocate Messenger.

The lawsuit asks for compensation for the rings, punitive damages and attorney fees.
