Physician shot outside Ohio hospital, shooter pronounced dead

A physician, George Seese, DO, was shot in the parking lot of Massillon, Ohio-based Affinity Medical Center just after 2 p.m. Monday afternoon and later passed away, according to the Canton Representative.

Massillon Police Department Capt. Bill Peel and Chief Keith Moser said the physician — a cardiologist who practiced at a handful of hospitals, including Affinity Medical Center — was shot twice while walking to his vehicle.

Police said the shooter, Michael Wood, died on the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

After investigation, police found that the Dr. Seese and Mr. Wood shared a mutual love interest.

The hospital went on lockdown immediately following the shooting for roughly an hour. No other injuries were reported.
