New Safety Bill Would Boost Nurse-to-Patient Ratio

Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (D – IL) recently introduced proposed legislation to improve nurse-to-patient ratio requirements under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

The bill would set nurse-to-patient ratios at a level that may contribute to fewer adverse patient safety events, according to research findings that indicate a correlation between staffing levels and patient safety.

The Physician-Alliance for Health and Safety has endorsed the bill, according to a news release
