Part of California hospital loses power after workers strike electrical line

Sharp Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa, Calif., lost power in some areas July 2 due to electrical work, reports The San Diego Union-Tribune.

The power outage occurred after 11 a.m. when water utility workers accidentally struck an underground electrical line, San Diego Gas and Electric spokesperson Allison Torres told the publication.

Hospital officials turned power back on within about two hours via its central energy plant, which powers the main facility.

"Patient care continued during the power shortage and the hospital was fully operational after the disruption," they added.
