Vibra Healthcare Completes Purchase of Kindred Healthcare Facilities

Vibra Healthcare in Mechanicsburg, Pa., has completed through an affiliate the $165.8 million purchase of 14 long-term acute-care hospitals containing 1,002 licensed beds from Louisville, Ky.-based Kindred Healthcare.

HospitalA 44-bed inpatient medical rehabilitation hospital and a 135-bed skilled nursing facility are still under contract for sale to Vibra, according to a news release. Vibra originally agreed to purchase three additional facilities from Kindred and expects to close on the sale of the two still under contract by year-end for $20.7 million. Kindred removed the third facility from the transaction after the company was unable to satisfy the closing conditions for the facility, according to the release.

Kindred expects a pretax loss of approximately $100 million connected with the sales, according to the release.
