Ms. Burwell is currently director of the Office of Management and Budget. Last month, President Barack Obama nominated her to replace Kathleen Sebelius, who stepped down as HHS secretary in mid-April in the wake of a troubled rollout for the federal health insurance exchange website, HealthCare.gov.
In announcing her nomination President Obama said, “Sylvia is a proven manager, and she knows how to deliver results.” The Senate Finance Committee will also have the chance to question Ms. Burwell before she is confirmed, although that hearing has not been scheduled yet, according to the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society.
