Flint, Mich.-based Insight Health Systems has agreed to surrender the license for its Warren, Ohio-based Insight Hospital and Medical Center Trumbull, a spokesperson for the system confirmed with Becker’s.
“Once that license has been received, Insight is free to submit a new application for a hospital license. Of course, that process would involve ODH ensuring that Insight has met all state standards required for licensure,” a spokesperson for the Ohio Department of Health said in a statement shared with Becker’s.
The news comes after Insight suspended operations at the hospital in late November after the Ohio Department of Health moved to revoke its state license.
The Trumbull hospital had reopened Oct. 14 after it paused operations in late March amid bankruptcy issues related to its former owner, Dallas-based Steward Health Care. Insight acquired both Insight Hospital and Medical Center Trumbull and the still-closed Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital in Warren from Steward in November 2024.
Insight also said Trumbull Hospital had not yet regained its Medicare agreement in late November after an Oct. 10 termination tied to multiple Medicare Conditions of Participation violations.
“Insight understands how important this hospital is to the health of the community, and we are committed to working closely with federal, state and local partners to move forward in the best way possible,” the Insight spokesperson said in a Jan. 21 statement.
