Whistleblower sues hospital for wrongful termination

A former employee of Princeton (W. Va.) Community Hospital has filed a lawsuit against its parent company, Princeton (N.J.) Hospital Association, alleging the hospital fired him in retaliation for whistleblowing about patient safety and fraudulent billing concerns, reports WV Record.

Below are three things to know about the lawsuit.

1. Former Princeton employee Harold Jones filed suit against PHA April 15 in Mercer Circuit Court.

2. According to the complaint, Mr. Jones said he repeatedly told his supervisors about instances of wrongdoing, waste and fraudulent billing that occurred at the hospital during his three years of employment. Mr. Jones claimed Princeton terminated his employment March 10 in response to his actions.

3. Mr. Jones is seeking punitive and compensatory damages against the hospital association, including legal costs, according to the article.
