VUMC agreed to a civil settlement of $80,000 for refusing to accept a patient transferred from another hospital who was in need of the specialized services available at VUMC, a violation of the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act, according to the report.
Per the terms of the settlement, VUMC did not admit to any wrongdoing.
