UTMC Nurse Fired Following Failed Transplant Files Lawsuit

The University of Toledo (Ohio) Medical Center is facing a lawsuit from a former nurse who was fired following the accidental disposal of a kidney intended for transplant, according to a Toledo Blade report.

Plaintiff Melanie Lemay, fired from UTMC a year ago, has brought forth accusations of wrongful termination, defamation, slander and libel against the hospital, according to the report.

The lawsuit claims the attention surrounding the incident, and the hospital's release of information to the media, has damaged Ms. Lemay's reputation and has hindered her ability to find another job, according to the report.
