David Young, MD, 61, was found guilty of writing fraudulent prescriptions for medically unnecessary orthotic braces and genetic tests for more than 13,000 beneficiaries, according to a June 17 news release from the Texas Attorney General’s Office. Dr. Young received $475,000 in illegal kickbacks from providers.
He was convicted of one count of conspiracy to commit healthcare fraud and three counts of false statements relating to healthcare matters, according to the release. He faces a maximum of 25 years in prison.
