Brenda Montgomery was sentenced to prison after pleading guilty in January to one count of conspiracy to violate the Anti-Kickback Statute and seven counts of violating the Anti-Kickback Statute.
As part of her guilty plea, Ms. Montgomery admitted she paid illegal kickbacks to the former CEO of Comprehensive Pain Specialists in exchange for Medicare referrals for durable medical equipment order by CPS employees. Ms. Montgomery and the former CEO of CPS also took several steps to conceal the illegal agreement, including creating false tax documents.
In addition to the prison term, Ms. Montgomery was also ordered to forfeit $595,676.
