Suspect named in Oregon hospital shooting

Police have confirmed the identity of the man suspected of fatally shooting a security guard July 22 at Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland, Ore., Fox affiliate KPTV reported.

At about 11 a.m., PoniaX Kane Calles, 33, shot the security guard, identified as Bobby Smallwood, 44, who was transferred to a level 1 Trauma Center, where he died despite treatment efforts, police said. No patients were hurt.

A second hospital employee was injured, according to a statement from Portland-based Legacy Health. The health system said the employee suffered a shrapnel injury, was treated at Good Samaritan and released to go home July 22. 

Officers located Mr. Calles in a vehicle in Gresham, Ore. Mr. Calles is dead after an officer-involved shooting, police said. No officers were injured.

Mr. Calles previously went by the name Reginald Kane Jackson, according to KPTV.

He had threatened staff at the hospital in recent days, The Oregonian reported.
