The justices will review a lower appeals court’s decision to uphold Tennessee’s law, which prevents minors from receiving puberty blockers and hormones. After the September ruling, an anonymous group of transgender youths and their families appealed the decision, arguing the law violates the 14th Amendment’s Equal Protection Clause, according to NBC News.

Oral arguments are slated to occur in the Supreme Court’s next term, which starts in October and runs until June 2025.

The case will mark the first time the high court considers whether restrictions on gender-affirming care violate the Constitution. To date, 23 states have passed such bans, according to the Post.
