Dr. Anderson told Accountable Care News the following according to the post:
Pro: Proposed regulations give an extra 3 years for MSSP ACOs to continue participation under the 1-sided risk category.
Con: Proposed regulations reduce risk sharing formula from a 50-50 savings split to 40-60 for those that elect to stay in the program 3 more years.
“CMS clearly wants to keep organizations in the program…,” Dr. Anderson noted, “But approximately 75% of the MSSP programs are losing money on operations.”
CMS continues to update rules for MSSP ACOs.
