St. John Medical Center in Westlake, Ohio, is facing a lawsuit from a cardiologist who claims accusations made by the hospital defamed his character and hurt his business, according to a Plain Dealer report.

The Plain Dealer reported last August the hospital sent letters to two dozen of the cardiologists’ patients, informing them stents placed by the cardiologist may have been unnecessary.

The cardiologist claims the accusations resulted in legal action against him, cost him patients and made it nearly impossible to practice in the area, according to the report.

St. John Medical Center declined to comment, according to the Plain Dealer.
