OIG Subpoenas Team Health Over Services Rendered to HMA

Team Health, a physician staffing company, has received a subpoena from HHS’ Office of the Inspector General for information on services rendered to Naples, Fla.-based Health Management Associates hospitals, according to a Reuters report.

Health Management Associates has undergone, and continues to undergo, several federal investigations related to inpatient admissions from its emergency departments. Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems, which is set to acquire Health Management Associates for $7.6 billion, has undergone similar investigations.

Team Health intends to fully cooperate with the OIG, according to Reuters.
