Mount Pleasant police were notified about the situation when a pharmacist working in the same pharmacy recognized errors in last month’s audits, 9 & 10 News reported. This led authorities to suspect pharmacist technician Angelee Wilkerson, who later admitted to embezzling $5,200 worth of hydrocodone, prescription Tylenol and Ambien for her friends and herself.
McLaren released a statement saying it is “cooperating with local authorities in their investigation and prosecution of this incident. It is important to note that the diversion did not occur in a patient care area. At no time was patient care affect.”
Next week Ms. Wilkerson will appear in court.
