Medical supplier Hospira Worldwide sues Harnett Health System for $123K

Hospira Worldwide, a medical supply company based in Lake Forest, Ill., has filed a lawsuit against Dunn, N.C.-based Harnett Health System, claiming the health system failed to pay for more than $123,000 in medical supplies, according to Triangle Business Journal.

According to its allegations, Hospira delivered IV medications and associated medical supplies to Harnett Health System-owned Betsy Johnson Hospital, also in Dunn. The lawsuit alleges breach of contract and unjust enrichment, claiming Harnett Health System did not pay for those supplies.

Hospira is seeking $123,328.97 in damages. The medical supplier's attorney, Greg Shelton, JD, of Charlotte's Horack, Talley, Pharr & Lowndes, said Harnett has already paid a portion of the amount in dispute since the lawsuit was filed May 1. Hospira is now seeking to recover approximately $104,000, according to the report.
