Medical Arts Hospital to Receive $3.7M Settlement Over Construction Problems

Dawson County Hospital District will receive a settlement of $3.7 million over alleged construction problems at Medical Arts Hospital in Lamesa, Texas, according to a report in the Lamesa Press-Reporter.

The lawsuit claiming serious construction problems at the hospital was originally filed in 2009 against the general contractor, two insurance agencies and an insurance adjuster. The settlement was reached and the suit dismissed Oct. 23, according to the report.

"We got enough to fix the major problems and that was our goal in the beginning," said Ray Stephens, president of the hospital's board, according to the report.
