The agency reportedly identified a discrepancy between hospital-submitted claims data and the CMS data file. CMS said future hospital-specific reports will include patient-level data as well as hospital-level results and advised hospitals to disregard hospital-specific reports distributed on Sept. 16.
The AHA had urged CMS not to publish the HAC data because of inadequate time for hospitals to review the information, among other reasons.
