The CLASS Act was designed to give disabled and elderly patients cash to receive home healthcare rather than institutional healthcare. Late last year, HHS announced it would suspend the provision due to failure to construct a long-term financially sound infrastructure for the program.
Although the CLASS Act was suspended, its implementation could still be revived. Now a GOP-controlled house is looking to completely repeal the provision, arguing it “needs to be formally taken off the books,” according to the report. The legislation is scheduled for a floor vote next month.
