House Subcommittee Holds Hearing on Medical Liability Reform

The House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health yesterday held a hearing on proposed medical liability reforms, according to an AHA News Now report.

The hearing discussed H.R. 5, which would cap non-economic damages at $250,000. The House Judiciary Committee approved the bill in February, according to the report.

The American Hospital Association supports the legislation and contends that reforming medical liability is a key part of making healthcare more affordable.
