Former Owners of California Medical Center Agree to Pay $10M to Settle Suit

The former owners of 292-bed Los Angeles City of Angels Medical Center have agreed to pay $10 million to settle a Medicare and Medi-Cal fraud lawsuit, according to a release by the U.S. Justice Department.

Robert Bourseau and Rudra Sabaratnam, MD, who allegedly paid recruiters to bring in homeless people for unnecessary medical treatment, will be sentenced on Feb. 22 and April 5 respectively.

Dante Nicholson, a former senior vice president of the hospital, has already pleaded guilty and faces up to 10 years in prison.
