Einstein Healthcare Network settles false billing case for $968k

Philadelphia-based Einstein Healthcare Network agreed to pay $968,000 to resolve allegations that an Einstein cardiologist falsely billed Medicare, according to the Philadelphia Business Journal.

According to an internal review conducted by the health system, an unnamed cardiologist improperly billed Medicare from October 2010 to January 2012, resulting in an unspecified amount of overpayments. The health system voluntarily disclosed the issue to the federal government and agreed to settle the allegations out of court.

The cardiologist reportedly no longer works for the health system, according to the article.
