Donald Berwick Emphasizes Hospitals’ Role in Improving Care, Reducing Costs

CMS Administrator Donald Berwick, MD, emphasized collaboration among hospitals, government and others as the key to improving the quality of care while reducing cost during a presentation at the American Hospital Association’s annual meeting, according to an AHA News Now report.

During the presentation, he praised hospitals’ efforts to improve quality, reduce readmissions and lower costs. Adding, the goal of all efforts is “an American healthcare system that can make the best the norm [and] that can bring excellence to full scale,” according to the AHA News Now report.
