The hospital industry opposes the proposed legislation. The Connecticut Hospital Association said that ending the facility fee would result in a $435 million annual loss.
“What this means is that a hospital will be prohibited from billing for any evaluation and management service for patients in an emergency department,” the CHA said.
The news comes as Colorado also examines its facility fee practices.
