Part of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, the Physician Payments Sunshine Act requires pharmaceutical, device and other manufacturers and businesses enrolled in federal healthcare programs to report certain payments and gifts given to physicians and teaching hospitals.

“These two apps are an innovation option for doctors and industry to accurately and securely track their financial ties and other transfers of values as required under this important transparency program,” said Peter Budetti, MD, CMS’ program integrity director, in the news release.

The apps are available on both the iOS and Android platforms.
