The proposed change would extend the reporting period for the 2010 survey from July through June to a calendar year and would give hospitals six months to complete the survey, according to the report. The survey collects data on hospital occupational mix every three years in order to construct an occupational mix adjustment to the wage index.
Data for the 2010 survey would be collected based on pay periods for 2010, would be due by July 1, 2011 and would be applied to the fiscal year 2013 wage index, according to the report.
