The advisory does not identify an intervention capable of preventing LAST but says the best prevention method is “is limiting the opportunity for intravascular injection or tissue uptake of local anesthetic, which is best accomplished by early detection of intravascular needle or catheter placement.”
Treatment for LAST includes airway management, circulatory support and promoting the diminution of the systemic effects of local anesthetics.
