AHA to Congress: Extend Rural Medicare Provisions

The American Hospital Association has briefed Congressional representatives on the importance of extending the Medicare-dependent hospital program and the low-volume hospital payment adjustment, according to an AHA News Now report.

Lisa Kidder, vice president of legislative affairs and the AHA representative at the briefing, also advocated for the reinstatement of the expired outpatient hold harmless payments, according to the report.

The programs are currently set to expire Oct. 1. The AHA was joined by representatives from the Office of Rural Health Policy and the National Association of Rural Health Clinics, according to the report.
