The cancellations this fall are due largely to state regulators only allowing the “keep your plan” fix to last one year, according to the report. Also, some insurers have just decided to stop offering the old policies on their own.
Cancellations announced by insurance departments and providers will affect 50,000 residents in a number of states, including Alaska, Colorado, Kentucky, Maine, New Mexico, North Carolina and Tennessee.
In Kentucky alone, nearly 14,000 people are likely to lose their health plans, many of which are offered by the health insurer Humana.
