Hospital of Central Connecticut Aims to End Inpatient Services at South Campus

The Hospital of Central Connecticut, a two-hospital system based in New Britain, Conn., plans to discontinue inpatient services at its Bradley Memorial campus in Southington, Conn., by next year, according to a Record-Journal report.

HCC plans to file a certificate of need to close the inpatient unit with the Connecticut Office of Health Care Access. HCC's Bradley Memorial Campus is licensed for 84 beds, but the hospital has reduced its capacity to 15, according to the report. Specific reasons for the closure were not given, and officials said the emergency department is likely to stay open.

HCC is part of Hartford (Conn.) HealthCare.
