American healthcare consumers are buying into the notion that they must take an active role in their healthcare, according to a recent survey by Wolters Kluwer Health, part of Wolters Kluwer, a global information services company.

The state's attorney's office for the Western District of Pennsylvania collected $13.1 million from civil and criminal actions this past fiscal year, and $1.98 million of that came from a settlement with Greensburg, Pa.-based Excela Healthcare over alleged improper stenting.
