South Carolina pediatric hospital rolls out virtual aquarium tours for patients

Greenville, S.C.-based Prisma Health Children's Hospital is offering its patient's a chance to tour the South Carolina Aquarium through a robot they can control without leaving their hospital bed, WYFF reported Jan. 25.

The child can maneuver the robot through the aquarium and view animal exhibits. An aquarium employee guides the robot and answers any questions the patient might have.

The program was piloted at Charleston, S.C.-based MUSC Children's Health. Prisma and the South Carolina Aquarium are completing trial runs of the program this week and expect to have patients using the robots soon.
