Biotech company focusing on cell growth raises $42M

Biotech company Prolific Machines has raised $42 million in seed and series A funding rounds.

Prolific Machines is working to create a scalable assembly line process for biotech innovations. Prolific Machines' initial focus will be on creating cultured meat; however, the technology is cell-agnostic. This means it can be used for a variety of biotech applications, according to the Sept. 14 Prolific news release.

The series A funding round was led by Bill Gates-founded Breakthrough Energy Ventures. Arvind Gupta at Mayfield led the seed funding round.
