Saint Louis University Hospital, SEIU workers reach agreement

Saint Louis University Hospital workers have reached a new contract agreement with management, according to a St. Louis Post-Dispatch report.

The three-year contract covers 629 nonclinical workers represented by the Service Employees International Union. Under the contract, workers will receive a 2.5 percent annual raise through 2018, according to Kaitlin DeCero, spokeswoman for SEIU. 

The minimum pay for about 18 job titles will also increase, and those whose pay didn't keep up with new hires with the same position will see their pay increase to make up the difference, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Additionally, workers will see increases in funding for retirement accounts, as well as "protected and guaranteed" tuition remission to Saint Louis University. 

This contract, which was approved after nearly four months of negotiations, is the first contract for the nonclinical workers since Saint Louis Hospital joined St. Louis-based SSM Health. Nurses at the hospital are represented by National Nurses United.
