Kaiser nurses picket at more than 20 locations amid contract negotiations

Kaiser Permanente registered nurses and nurse practitioners picketed Thursday at more than 20 California medical centers, the California Nurses Association confirmed.

The CNA, which represents 19,000 Kaiser RNs and nurse practitioners, said via news release workers picketed for safer patient care and are "calling on Kaiser to support a series of RN proposals that would enhance safe staffing and general care standards." These proposals include more RNs in clinics, call centers and home health and hospice, expanding nurse training and "better patient access to nurse practitioners," among others.

The picketing comes as Kaiser and union officials are in contract negotiations.

Editor's note: Becker's Hospital Review reached out to Kaiser and will post additional details as they become available.
