The agreement is subject to ratification by the full union membership, the hospital said. A ratification vote is expected to be scheduled in the next week or so. No other details of the agreement were available.
The agreement comes just days after hospital nurses and other workers, represented by the union, voted to authorize a potential strike.
At the time, union members said staffing levels were a key sticking point in negotiations, according to a Rhode Island Public Radio report. Women & Infants Hospital officials previously said the hospital was asking for some flexibility in the work rules, particularly related to scheduling. “If we are able to achieve greater flexibility, it will help keep Women & Infants strong as a workplace and as the premier provider of care for women and newborn children,” they said.
