The decision to not give raises is part of the system’s attempt to cut costs, according to the report.
“Unfortunately it would not be prudent to implement increases this year in the current climate,” UAB Health System COO Reid Jones told Al.com.
UAB Medicine has experienced funding decreases for education from the state and flat grant funding from the National Institutes for Health. The focus on cost reduction also stems from the move to value-based payments, according to the report.
