Employee engagement has wavered over the years, averaging 29.9 percent in 2013 and hitting an all-time low of 27.1 percent in 2011. In 2015, the number has oscillated between 31 and 32 percent throughout the year. In February however, the monthly employment engagement average was higher than usual at 32.9 percent.
Survey results are based on phone interviews conducted in September with 6,926 full time or part-time employed U.S. adults. Employees were classified as “engaged” based on their ratings of workplace elements such as productivity, profitability and customer engagement.
