Study finds hiring a toxic employee leads to negative long-term effects

– When the ratio of toxic employees rose by 1:20, co-workers became 54% more likely to quit their jobs.
– In a group of 20, it costs an average of $12,800 to bring on board just one toxic employee.
– While there were no short-term effects for hiring a toxic employee, the long term-effects on stress, burnout and peace of mind are large.

The results were reported by Cornerstone OnDemand after analyzing a data set of 63,000 employees.
