More than 1,300 nurses in San Francisco's healthcare system are putting pressure on the city to remedy chronic nurse understaffing, they told the San Francisco Chronicle.

Registered nurses are holding informational pickets May 28 outside Arizona, California and Florida hospitals owned by Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare, the union representing them announced in a news release.

Hospital workers from Pittsburgh-based UPMC will strike May 28, the same day the board of UPMC Presbyterian/Shadyside meets for its annual public meeting at UPMC Montefiore in Pittsburgh, according to radio station WESA.  

Registered nurses plan to hold an informational picketing event May 28 outside eight California hospitals owned by Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare, the union representing them announced.

A strike will continue at Toledo, Ohio-based Mercy Health-St. Vincent Medical Center, after the hospital and the union representing its nurses, technicians and support staff ended this week without an agreement, according to The Blade.

Unionized hospital workers at Toledo, Ohio-based Mercy Health-St. Vincent Medical Center are now in their third week of a strike, according to Cincinnati.com.
