Jefferson Einstein Philadelphia Hospital nurses represented by Einstein Nurses United voted June 24 to ratify a new three-year labor contract, according to a union news release shared with Becker’s.
The agreement covers nearly 1,200 nurses represented by Einstein Nurses United, an affiliate of the Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals.
According to the union, the contract includes an expanded experience-based wage scale with guaranteed 3% annual raises, additional experience-based pay steps, staffing provisions and protections for pension, vacation, sick leave and severance benefits.
“I’m really happy that we’re going to start having conversations about the staffing issues in the OR,” Julianne Mosca, RN, an operating room nurse and member of the bargaining committee, said in the release. “Ultimately, management listened, they heard us, and we are taking action together.”
In a statement shared with Becker’s, a Jefferson spokesperson said the agreement “reflects a thoughtful and collaborative approach, balancing the financial realities facing healthcare organizations today with our ongoing commitment to invest in the communities we serve.”
