Kaleida Health’s workers are represented by three unions: Communication Workers of America, 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East and the International Union of Operating Engineers.
The system and the union bargaining committee have been in contract negotiations since March. According to the SEIU news release, the parties “remain far apart on major staffing and economic issues.”
Bargaining is set to resume June 13. A Kaleida spokesperson told WKBW that system management will “continue to bargain in good faith with the primary objective of completing a new contract without any work stoppage.”
If the workers authorize a strike, the union bargaining committee will issue a 10-day strike notice. Voting will continue through June 12.
