Healthcare Worker Strike Avoided in California

Santa Clara County in California and the Service Employees International Union Local 521 have reached a tentative labor agreement, avoiding a looming strike, according to a Los Altos Patch report.

SEIU Local 521 represents about 9,000 county employees, including workers at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose. The union also represents 911 dispatchers and public health nurses.

Union members authorized a strike earlier this month and said a strike was “imminent” Aug. 23.
