The employees will go part-time beginning May 19, which will save Gila Regional Medical Center $3.1 million, according to the report.
The hospital cited the shift from inpatient to outpatient care, reduced government reimbursement and the number of un- and under-insured patients receiving care there as the reason for the cutbacks.
In addition to reducing staff hours, the hospital is stopping an expansion project, putting off converting to a new health information software system and closing some services to save money, according to the report.
