UIOE Local 39 represents about 80 employees who maintain and repair the four hospital facilities: Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz, Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City and Saint Francis Memorial Hospital and St. Mary’s Medical Center in San Francisco. Strikes at the hospitals began Oct. 1.
The lawsuit is seeking compensatory and punitive damages. It has asked San Mateo County Superior Court to require Local 39 and its supporters to stop making “unreasonably obnoxious and/or raucous noise,” according to the report. It also alleges that striking workers trespassed, created a nuisance and hurt hospital business, among other claims, according to the report.
