The International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local Union 30 has filed a petition with the National Labor Relations Board to become the union representation for a group of workers at Allegheny Health Network’s United Physicians’ office in New Kensington, Pa.
The petition, filed June 16, requests an election to determine whether about a dozen nurses, health coaches and others at the clinic seek to unionize.
Becker’s reached out to the union and will update the story if a comment is received.
AHN shared the following statement with Becker’s:
“We strongly believe that effective labor-management relations can be achieved without the influence of a third party but also respect the right of employees to consider or seek representation if they feel it’s in their best interests.”
Allegheny Health Network is a Pittsburgh-based system with 14 hospitals, 22,000 employees and more than 250 care locations.
